About this item
Tsuka (hilt) made from two pieces of bone carved with human figures in traditional
Japanese costume; copper tsuba (guard), kashira (pommel) and fuchi (collar). Brass
habaki (blade collar). The saya (scabbard) fashioned from five pieces of bone carved with
traditional Japanese figures and architecture; copper collars at the junctions and decorative
sayajiri (scabbard tip). Slightly curved 17 3/4" (measured from mune-machi (back notch) to
kissaki (tip) with very unusual decorative forging pattern (see photos). Numerous shallow
edge nicks. Overall length 27 3/4", not including saya (scabbard). Length including saya
32 3/4".
