About this item
A very pleasing George V example, retailed by Gieve's of Portsmouth, London and Devenport.
This WW1 period sword retains an excellent 31.5 inch etched blade, displaying the Royal Coat of Arms, the fouled anchor, and the usual floral swags with roped border.
The shagreen grip is all complete, as is the twistwire binding. The hilt retains it's folding guard, which still has plenty of "snap". When folded with scabbard mounted, it locks the sword into the scabbard.
The scabbard is the regulation black leather with gilt mounted brass mounts.
The sword comes with the benefit of the correct pattern of sword knot, and although this has age, it is not of the same period as the sword and scabbard.
All in all a very sturdy and clean example, which with some light cleaning, could be carried by a serving officer again.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
