About this item
The sword of Lieutenant Edmund Waller ISC who saw active service with the Bengal Infantry, served in the Hazarra Expedition, and Miranzai Expedition both in 1891. He also saw service in WWI.
A Wilkinson Infantry officer's sword, the spine numbered '27229' for 1886, with an 1895 hilt.
Sword 39 inches, overall, with a 33 inch blade.
The blade etched with floral scrolls and crowned VR and on the forte 'Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London' with the Prince of Wales feathers, The later pierced 1895 pattern hilt with crowned VR. Shagreen grip and twistwire in good condition.
The blade has been service sharpened and clearly seen use by a professional soldier. Housed in its original steel scabbard, which has been period painted in a non reflective black.
Plenty of research potential, and supplied with a copy of the Wilkinson Sword ledger.
