About this item
An early Victorian 1822 Pattern Infantry officers sword, regimentally marked to the 7th Fusiliers.
The transitional type blade with quill point marked above the short ricasso: "Moore&Co Late Broknells&Moore, 10 Old Bond St, London. The blade otherwise plain witht he exception "7th Royal Fusiliers" etched within a surround of oak leaves on the right hand side of the blade.
Brass hilt with regulation folding guard in overall very good condition with only minor dents and abrasions, and retaining elements of the original gilt wash finish. The Folding guard crisp and functioning correctly.
The shagreen grip in very good condition, and retaining its original twistwire binding.
Blade now to a dark patina, small areas of salt and pepper pitting, old rust and grime. Would respond well to some gentle cleaning and general TLC.
Steel scabbard with twin hanging rings a good fit, stopping a washers distance from the hilt. Generally sound with a small hole above the drag. Generally clean with scattered small areas of pitting, rust and grime.
32 inch blade.
Overall a very nice untouched sword, and scarce to find a regimentally marked example of this period.
Strictly over 18's Only
