About this item
Fine and complete example of a rare British Army 1897 Pattern Infantry NCO’s sword and scabbard. With an identical hilt to the officer’s version and including a fishskin and silver wire wrapped grip. The difference with NCO swords was that they were issued by the Army and invariably had no decoration to the blade. This sword was issued in 1900 and although not maker marked, was likely to have been made by Wilkinson Sword due to the incorporation of the letter “W” in the forte inspection marks. Blade is extremely clean with plenty of original polish. Complete with steel scabbard. Blade length is 32.5 inches (39 inches overall).
