    About this item

Victorian piquet weight infantry officers sword, by Wilkinson Sword, London.

This example originally purchased by Guy Burnett Arbouin, who was comissioned in 1888 as a 2nd Lieutenant into the Shropshire Regiment.

Regulation brass guard with crowned VR cypher. The shagreen grip is complete, and retaining the copper twistwire binding.

Fully etched blade, bearing the officers initials "G.B.A." Wilkinson name, "By Appointment", proof marking, crowned VR cypher, and the usual floral etching. The blade in good condition with the etching clear and bright.

The sword housed in a steel scabbard with two loose rings. Light rust, and some surface pitting/staining in areas.

Blade length 33 inches, which is unusually long for a piquet weight sword.

Generally a very good and clean untouched sword which only requires a light clean to improve its appearance, and some research to unlock the story of the original owner. Accompanied by a digital copy of the Wilkinson Sword Proof Ledger page.

Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
