A fine example of a Sudanese Kaskara Sword, circa 1880.
Hilt of typical form with remains of leather wrap, leather disk pommel, and cruxiform crossguard with langets.
The blade is 34 inches long, with faux Solingen makers marks. It has been engraved with verse from the Quran " "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger." and a poem from Al Mutanabbi: "The steed, the night and the desert all know me, As do the sword, the spear, the paper and the pen."
All solid, and free from movement.
Blade length 34.5 inches. Overall length 39.5 inches.
