About this item
The sword of Henry Gerrard Lunn.
The blade is etched "Henry Gerrard Lunn" along with the usual foliate and Royal decoration.
Henry Gerrard Lunn was promoted to Second Lieutenant. Dated 20th October, 1914, serving with the 4th Battalion, The King's (Shropshire Light Infantry).
32.5 inch blade.
Sword would benefit from a careful clean. All shagreen and twistwire intact. Guard retains its shape. Blade etching is bright and visible, but the whole blade is a little dark, which may be partly due old varnish. It will clean up nicely.
The field service leather scabbard is original, and complete with Sam Browne frog. The leather is dry, and will require a feed. Loss of stitching to scabbard and frog, but not beyond redemption.
Worthy of further research.
Strictly over 18's only.
