    About this item

Submarine Trench Art Brass & Alloy Paperweight Ashtray.

A well executed model of a surfaced alloy submarine on a polished brass sea, to its bow and alloy ashtray with embossed submarine and to the stern a sleeping fox.  Length 10 1/2 inches. Height 2 inches. GC

I believe this depicts HMS Trespasser which was a T Class submarine which was launched in May 1942. Seeing action in the Mediterranean and later in the Far East, she was damaged in action with the Japanese auxiliary gunboat Eifuku Maru off Burma. Repaired she remained in Royal Navy service until 1961. The ships crest incorporates a Fox.
