WW1 Patriotic Union Jack Inlaid Mahogany Sewing Box.
This polished mahogany box, possibly made as a sewing box by a wounded soldier, sailor of airman, is decorated to the lid with a Marquetry inlay depicting a mother, wife or sister sewing a patriotic Union Jack Flag. The style of the clothing and furniture would indicate the Great War period. The hinged lid reveals a plain interior retaining the original paper lining. Raised on block feet.
Overall size 6 x 8 x 8 inches.
