About this item
An original pair of British army camouflage windproof trousers in a size 2 which are in stunning unissued condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in 1943 and was based on the earlier drab and snow windproof trousers. These examples are made from a lightweight gabardine fabric and are cut in the same style as the earlier windproofs with a wide leg, drawstring waist and map pocket to the left leg. The seat features a reinforced section and ankle tabs are located to the cuff which fasten with chocolate brown coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons.
To the rear of the trousers the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'Trousers, Windproof' and the size of 2. The manufacturer's name 'I. Miller & Co Ltd' is present below which is the issue date of January 1944 which may suggest they were actually made in late 1943.
The trousers are designed to be worn over the battledress uniform and are therefore cut in a wide manner. They are intended to fit a 31" - 33" waist and the drawstring waist allows them to be pulled in a lot. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 21 1/2"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
Outside leg - 44"
Cuff - 10 1/2"
The trousers are in stunning new old stock condition with no signs of previous wear and use. They are extremely fresh and crisp with bold colours and are in the condition they would have been when they left the factory. The fabric still has a nice sheen to it and there are even the factory white coloured chalk marks on the ankle tabs (picture 5)!
A fantastic pair of original camouflage windproof trousers which would be extremely hard to improve on.
