About this item
An original pair of theatre made British Jungle Green Shorts in good condition.
This style of shorts was introduced during the Second World War for wear in the Far East and other hot climates. They are usually referred to as 'Jungle Green' as they were originally designed for use in the Jungle.
These shorts most likely date from the immediate post-war period as they are fitted with green/grey coloured plastic buttons. The style however mimics the 1941 pattern khaki drill shorts which also feature the double buckle waist fastenings. The shorts are made from a cotton drill material and feature a high rise waist and voluminous, wide cut leg which is typical of the period. The shorts feature belt loops around the waist which feature a pleasant rounded shape.
The shorts will fit somebody of around a 28" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 14 1/2"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 22"
Inside leg - 8"
Outside leg - 22"
Cuff - 16"
The shorts are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. Overall they display very well with a slight loss of stitching to one of the belt loops. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage shorts which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice pair of original Jungle Green shorts which would make a great addition to any wardrobe or collection.
