Original 1940s British Khaki Drill Shorts

Original 1940s British Khaki Drill Shorts

    $110 (approx conversion from £80)

    Item details

An original pair of British made Khaki Drill Shorts dating from the 1940s.

These shorts are typical of those worn by the military as well as civilians during the 1940s. They are made from the standard khaki coloured cotton drill usually used in this period and feature a button fly and double waist belt and buckle closure which was first seen on the 1941 pattern shorts. The buckles are the original and an interesting, single prong design. The buttons are metal and of the style often found on Royal Navy items, suggesting that this could have been their original purpose. The shorts feature a double pleated front, no rear pockets and inverted belt loops.

The shorts will fit someone of around a 28" depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

    Waist - 14"
    Rise - 13 1/4"
    Rear rise - 17"
    Inside leg - 8"
    Outside leg - 20"
    Cuff - 14"

The shorts are in worn condition but still have plenty of life left in them. They display well overall with only limited signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures to get the best idea of the condition and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice pair of wartime period British made shorts in wearable condition. These would make a great addition to any collection or could suit a re-enactor.
