An original pair of theatre made British military Khaki Drill Shorts in worn condition.
Theatre made Khaki Drill items such as this saw widespread issue with British troops throughout the Second World War in the Middle East, Far East and Italy amongst other places.
These shorts are typical of 1940s made examples featuring a twin pleated front, straight slash pockets and a button fly. The cotton drill material and stitching is typical of theatre made shorts from this period as are the buttons. The shorts feature a flapped patch pocket to the rear which fastens with a single button as well as an interesting single belt front fastening.
The shorts will fit around a 29" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 14 1/2"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 16 1/2"
Inside leg - 9"
Outside leg - 20 1/2"
Cuff - 12 1/4"
The shorts are in well used condition with plenty of signs of wear and use. They are far from perfect and have staining and lots of wear. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn vintage shorts which are over 75 years old.
