Original 1940s Theatre Made Khaki Drill Shorts
An original pair of theatre made British military Khaki Drill Shorts in worn condition.
Theatre made Khaki Drill items such as this saw widespread issue with British troops throughout the Second World War in the Middle East, Far East and Italy amongst other places.
This particular pair of shorts are typical of wartime Indian made shorts featuring a double pleated front and rear, straight slash pockets and the double buckle waist belts that are synonymous with this pattern. To the rear is a single pleated first field dressing pocket which is another typical wartime feature. The shorts are fitted with a variety of buttons which are all of the style commonly found on theatre made KD items. The waist straps are fitted with chrome plated buckles.
The shorts will fit around a 24" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 12"
Rise - 13"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 8"
Outside leg - 19"
Cuff - 13 1/2"
The shorts are in well used condition with plenty of signs of wear and use. They are far from perfect and have staining and repairs. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn vintage shorts which are over 75 years old.
