    About this item

An original pair of Indian made Khaki Drill shorts clearly dated 1941.

The shorts are Indian made as can be deduced from the stamps and stitching. Indian made items saw widespread issue in both the Middle and Far East due to having shorter supply routes. The shorts feature the double buckle and tab closure to the waist and a single pleated first field dressing pocket to the rear. The shorts feature British made brass buttons which are most likely replacements of the original Indian made examples.

Inside the shorts are a number of stamps including the standard circular style usually found on Indian made items. It bears the date of 1941 making these ideal for someone collecting items used in the Western Desert. There is another stamp with the number '11' which denotes the size.

The short will fit someone of around a 28" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measure -

    Wasit - 14"
    Rise - 14 1/2"
    Rear rise - 16"
    Inside leg - 4 1/2"
    Outside leg - 17 1/2"
    Cuff - 13 1/2"

The shorts are in excellent condition with no signs of major wear or use. There is a small loss of stitching at the seat as detailed in the pictures although this is only one row of stitching so does not constitute a hole. Overall the shorts display well and look to be very wearable. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item.

A nice pair of early war shorts in good condition.
