    About this item

A rare original pair of 1945 dated British made British Khaki Drill Trousers in well used condition.

This pattern of trousers with the cross belt waist came into issue with British forces in 1944. It stayed in use well into the 1960s under different designations including '1950 pattern'. The waist belt was designed to be adjustable to account for the wear losing weight in hot climates. This style is now often referred to as 'Gurkha pants'. This style was used by both the British Army and RAF.

The trousers are made from the standard khaki coloured cotton drill used for British KD items during the Second World War. They are cut with a high rise waist and wide leg in keeping with the fashion of the period. The fly fastens with stamped brass buttons, typical of those used for British military items in this period. The correct metal, single prong buckles are fitted to the waist.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and states the maker's name as 'Wareings'. The 1945 date is still legible as is the War Department broad arrow marking and the size of 7.

The trousers are a small size and when laid flat measure -

    Waist - 14"
    Rise - 14 1/2"
    Rear rise - 18"
    Inside leg - 31 1/2"
    Outside leg - 44"
    Cuff  10 1/2"

Due to the style of waist belt the trousers waist can be adjusted in by a couple of inches.

The trousers are in well used condition as can be seen in the pictures. There is plenty of staining and wear and some period repairs. A section of material that has been cut from the cuff but this could be hidden if the trousers were re-hemmed to a slightly shorter length. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

Whilst far from perfect, these trousers have a fantastic worn look to them which would be impossible to replicate. Not only that but the original label is still present and bears a wartime date.
