    Item details

An original pair of British Army officers Khaki Drill trousers which were made for a Coldstream Guards officer in Nairobi in the 1950s.

Whilst these trousers are 'private purchase', tailor made examples; they are clearly based on the 1950 pattern KD trousers which were in issue during this period. Made from a tan coloured cotton drill, these trousers feature the cross belt waist closure which was used on the 1950 pattern uniform. As well as this the trousers feature a map pocket to the side of the left leg which is another feature of this pattern. Interestingly this pocket has been moved higher up the leg at some stage as is evident from the stitching marks which are visible below the pocket. The fly fastens with buttons and metal buckles fasten the cross belts around the waist. The front of the trousers features twin pleats and the rear features two pockets  another detail in common with the 1950s pattern uniform.

The trousers are a small size which will suit around a 26" waist depending on desired fit. The waist belt style also lets them be adjusted in and out which is worth considering. When laid flat they measure -

    Waist - 13"
    Rise - 16"
    Rear rise - 19 1/2"
    Inside leg - 28 1/2"
    Outside leg - 42"
    Cuff - 8 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is no major damage or staining but these are a pre-worn pair of trousers which may have some small issues commensurate with age. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice pair of tailored made KD trousers from the 1950s!
