    About this item

An original pair of British made Royal Marines Khaki Drill shorts dating from the 1950s and in good condition.

The construction of these shorts is typical of those dating from the 1940s and 1950s being made of a khaki coloured cotton drill and featuring a button fly and belt loops. As well as this they feature straight slash pockets to each and green plastic buttons as used from 1944 onwards, although this pattern dates from after the Second World War.

Inside the shorts the original label is still present and bears the title 'Shorts, Khaki Drill' and the Vocab number of 71775.  The size is stated as No. 5 which is designed to fit a 34" waist although they actually fit smaller. The maker's name is also present and reads 'W. Martyn (Kly) LTD'.

The shorts will fit someone of around a 30" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

    Waist - 15"
    Rise - 15 1/2"
    Rear rise - 17 1/2"
    Inside leg - 8 1/4"
    Outside leg - 21 3/4"
    Cuff - 12"

The shorts are in good condition for their age with only limited signs of wear and use. They are still very wearable and display well but please bear in mind that they are a pair of pre-owned vintage shorts which may have small issues consummate with their age.

A nice pair of post war British Army shorts in good condition.
