About this item
An original pair of British Royal Navy officer's white cotton tropical uniform trousers in good, wearable condition which date from the 1940s or more likely the early 1950s.
This pattern of trousers was worn by officers in the tropics in the summer months when the weather was warm. They are made from a white coloured cotton drill material and feature a high rise waist and button fly which fastens with white coloured plastic buttons. The front of the trousers feature a twin pleated front and straight slash pockets are located to each hip. There are no rear pockets and the trousers feature waist adjusters to each hip.
Inside the trousers the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Bernard Weatherill Ltd' along with the address of 55 Conduit Street W.1. There is an area for a name and date although there is nothing added here.
The trousers are a medium size which will suit around a 34" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 17 3/4"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 32"
Outside leg - 45 1/2"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good, wearable condition and display well. There are some signs of use etc which is to be expected of a pair of vintage white cotton trousers. Please study the pictures carefully before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned item which may have some flaws commensurate with age.
A good original pair of 1950s military summer trousers in a hard to find tall size.
