Original 1960s RAF Combination Suit Khaki Drill Shorts

Original 1960s RAF Combination Suit Khaki Drill Shorts

    Item details

An original pair of RAF Khaki Drill Combination Suit shorts dating from the 1960s and in good condition.

Officially designated 'Suit, Combination, Tropical, N.P. Shorts', this jacket forms the bottom half of the two piece uniform which was the successor of the one piece combination suit issued to the RAF serving in the tropics during the Second World War.

The shorts are made from the standard khaki tan coloured cotton drill which was used during WW2 and well into the post-war period. The feature pleats to the front, angled slash pockets to the hips and a button fly which fastens with green plastic buttons. Waist adjusters are located to each hip and are of an interesting design which is specific to this pattern.

Inside the shorts the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as 2 and bears the manufacturer's name as 'J. Compton Son & Webb Ltd' who were a prolific manufacturer of British military clothing during the 20th Century. The A78 contract number is present to the bottom of the label.

The shorts are a smaller size which will suit around a 30" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

    Waist - 15"
    Rise - 11 3/4"
    Inside leg - 8"
    Outside leg - 18"
    Cuff - 12"

The shorts are in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are some signs of wear and use but overall they present well and are very wearable. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item.

A nice original piece of RAF clothing with some fantastic details!
