About this item
An original pair of British Royal Navy Class Two white cotton drill trousers dating from the 1970s.
These trousers were intended for wear in hot climates and are therefore made from a white coloured cotton drill. They are cut in a classic nautical style with a high rise waist and wide, bell bottom leg. They feature a metal zipper at the fly which is maker marked 'AZF' which denotes Aero Zip Fasteners. The trousers feature a separate waistband with belt loops, angled slash pockets at the hips and a single rear pocket.
Inside the trousers the original label is still bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Trousers White Drill Class II Fly Front' and the size of D4. The maker's name of 'J. Compton Sons & Webb Ltd' is also present as is the A/78 contract number which dates these to the 1970s.
The trousers will suit a 30" waist and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 15"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear rise - 16"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 43!
Cuff - 12 1/2"
The trousers are in good wearable condition on the whole with some limited signs of wear and use. There is some discolouration around the zipper although this is not visible when the trousers are worn.
A good pair of 1970s Royal Navy trousers, complete with a clear and bright label.
