About this item
An original pair of British Army Jungle Green Trousers in good condition and dating from the late 1940s or early 1950s.
These original trousers are clearly theatre made, most likely in India, and are typical of those worn during the Second World War and into the 1950s. They are most likely private purchase examples as they are devoid of any stamps or markings - although this is not uncommon with theatre made uniforms.
The trousers are made from a cotton drill material which has been dyed the standard Jungle Green shade used during the 1940s and 1950s. They feature a high rise waist, button fly and a turn up to the bottom of the leg. Waist adjusters are fitted to each waist and the rear of the trousers feature a single pocket which are both typical period details found on British clothing from this era.
The trousers will fit someone of around a 32" waist and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 16"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 43"
Cuff - 9"
The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. They have been starched at some stage for smartness and there is some staining and other small issues commensurate with age but overall well. There are two period repairs to the seat where a patch has been added behind an area of wear to reinforce and strengthen the trousers. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn pair of trousers.
A good pair of original JG trousers with some great details!
