About this item
An original pair of British Khaki Drill Shorts made in America during the Second World War.
These shorts were made in the United States of America as part of the lend-lease scheme and are often referred to as 'War Aid'. Made from a high quality, khaki coloured cotton drill; the shorts are modelled on the British 1941 pattern. They feature the twin belt and buckle waist fastening and First Field Dressing Pocket to the right hip. The buttons and buckles used are typically American as are the labels to the interior. Sadly the interior labels have been washed out but War Aid clothing was only made up until the end of hostilities confirming these as being of guaranteed wartime manufacture.
The shorts are a larger size which will suit someone of around a 37" waist and when laid flat measure -
Waist - 18 3/4"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 20"
Inside leg - 8"
Outside leg - 22"
Cuff - 14"
The shorts are in good condition and are very wearable with only some signs of previous wear and use. There is roughly an inche of farying to the front cuff of the right leg on the return and sime limited staining but overall they display well. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn vintage military shorts which have some small issues commensurate with age.
A nice pair of original American made shorts which date from the Second World War. A hard pattern to find today and in a large size.
