    About this item

An original pair of United States Army Enlisted Men's trousers dating from the Second World War.

These trousers belonged to Corporal Sydney Cooper 991457 who served with the RAF throughout WW2. He joined up before February 1940 so would have been serving during the Battle of Britain. He was posted to No.111 Operational Training Unit, Nassau in the Bahamas where he spent a long period. Whilst there he was issued with some American made tropical clothing which included this pair of trousers.

This pattern of trousers was produced for enlisted men of the United States Army and Army Air Force to wear in hot climates. The pattern is the same as the wool version but made from a khaki tan coloured cotton twill. The trousers feature a button fly which fastens with the standard plastic pattern of buttons used on US military clothing during this period. Angled slash pockets are located at the hips and belt loops are positioned around the waist. Below the waistband there is a small ticket at the right hip and there are two welt pockets to the rear.

Inside the trousers the original labels are still present. The size tag is still bright and legible and states the size as a 30" waist and a 29" inside leg. The issue label has been washed out leaving no details legible although the original owner was demobed at the end of the war so these are a guaranteed wartime pair of trousers.

When laid flat the trousers measure -

    Waist - 14 1/2"
    Rise - 13"
    Rear rise - 16 1/2"
    Inside leg - 27 1/2"
    Outside leg - 38 1/2"
    Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and laundering. They are still totally wearable but do have some light marks etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of wartime trousers with RAF history.
