Original 1942 Dated Home Guard Ammunition Pouch
An original Home Guard webbing ammunition pouch, clearly dated 1942.
Officially designated 'Pouches, Web, Ammunition (Home Guard Pattern)', this pattern of pouch was produced specifically for use with Home Guard units. It was made to fit on the leather Home Guard waist belt (not to be confused with the very similar 1903 pattern leather belt) and was designed to carry BAR and SMLE magazines. It is made from the standard webbing material used during the Second World War and features a press stud to the front, loops to the rear and a twig buckle to which a cross strap can be attached.
This example was made by Mill Equipment Company who were the most prolific manufacturer of webbing during WW2. The interior of the pouch features there marking of 'MECo' as well as the 1942 date.
The pouch is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are only limited signs of wear and use and overall it displays very well.
A very good original example which would make a great addition to any collection!
