An original 1944 dated second pattern 'Carrier, Intrenching Tool M1943' and Intrenching Tool.
This pattern of carrier was introduced in 1943 with this second pattern example coming into issue in 1944. The carrier is made from OD green canvas and features the U.S stencil to the front. The front flap fastens with the standard 'Lift The Dot' fastener and the rear features a movable M1910 hook. Inside the cover the manufacturer's name 'B. A. B. Co' can be seen as can the 1944 date.
The spade is the correct foldable pattern which fits the case. It is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. It appears to have been repainted at some stage and no markings are visible.
A nice original item which would make a good addition to any US collection.
