About this item
An original WW2 period ticking cotton nurses dress as used by a variety of nursing branches during the mid century period.
The dress is made from a grey and white striped ticking cotton which was a popular choice for this type of clothing at the time as it is hard wearing. The cut is typically utilitarian and follows the pattern often used for nurses dresses. The front of the dress fastens with buttons and features a neckband collar to which a detachable stiff collar can be fitted. The cuff features the same buttons and is cut to be worn close to the arm, hence the need for a buttoning opening. Two breast pockets are present and a small concealed pocket is present to the right hand seam of the skirt.
When laid flat the dress measures -
bust - 18”
Waist - 13 1/2”
Hips - 19 1/2"
Inside arm - 17 1/2”
Outside arm - 23”
Shoulders - 14 1/2”
Length - 43”
The condition of the dress is good for its age and it displays wel. It shows limited signs of wear and use and overall is very wearable. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with this.
A great piece of utilitarian design and a fantastic ticking cloth make this a really fantastic piece.
