About this item
An original US WW1 era cartidge belt. This is the M1918 version designed to take 100 rounds of ammunition for the M1903 Springfield rifle, in 5 round stripper clips. Also saw service during World War Two, with each pocket accepting 8 round Garand clips. The M1923 Cartridge belt had slightly wider pockets at the bottom. This example has had additional refinforcement to the bottom of the pockets for this purpose.
Light discolouration in one or two spots, but generally very good condition. Both halves are marked 'Long 4-18', denoting a manufacture date of April 1918.
