    About this item

An original private purchase Royal Navy Ratings 'Jumper, Serge' dating from the 1940s which was made by 'A Bernard Production'.

This jumper is a private purchase example which would have almost certainly been worn as a best jumper for special occasions and 'walking out'. The exterior looks the same as the standard issue examples and features a two button cuff with indigo lining.

The interior retains the original maker's label which features typical 1940s graphics and the place names of 'Harwich, England' and 'Valletta, Malta'. The original owner has marked his name below this in white.

The jumper is a smaller size and when laid flat measures -

    Chest - 19"
    Inside arm - 20 1/2"
    Outside arm - 23 1/2"
    Length - 26"
    Shoulders - 15 1/4"

The jumper is in good condition for its age and it displays very well. As it was clearly used for best it only shows limited signs of wear and use. There are period repairs to each sleeve as illustrated as well as some fraying under the arms. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A nice original Royal Navy Jumper complete with its original label.
