    About this item

An original wartime white snow camouflaged smock and matching trousers in good condition.

This set is the lightweight version issued in the winter of 1944 and 1945 to a variety of British units as well as some American units. Made from cotton it was designed to be worn over the standard battledress uniform and featured no pockets, its sole purpose being camouflage.

The jacket is in good condition with no signs of serious wear or use. It is quite possible it was never issued as it displays very well. The hood features a cotton drawstring and there is a brass hook and eye which fastens at the neck. Inside the original label is still present and states the size as No. 4 which will fit a 42" - 44" chest and up to 6' 2". The maker's name of 'J. D. Fieldman & Co Ltd' is present as is the 1943 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The trousers are also in good condition and are again a very utilitarian item with just a single cotton drawstring at the waist. To the rear the original makers label is present and is again marked as a size No. 4, matching the jacket. They were also made by 'J. D. Fieldman & Co Ltd', matching the jacket. The 1943 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow marking. There is also a War Department inspectors stamp to the the exterior of the trousers as illustrated in the pictures.

Both items are in good condition with only minor issues. There are some marks as shown in the pictures bit overall it displays well as a set. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are vintage, pre-owned items which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

Altogether a nice original set with matching dates and in matching sizes. This would make a fine addition to a collection!
