About this item
An original 1943 Dated Civil Defence 57A Battledress Blouse in a size 7 and in good condition.
This jacket is the Austerity pattern (hence the 'A' of 57A) which is easily recognisable by its exposed buttons. It is the 'general' pattern rather than the rescue party blouse which was made from a heavier wool. It is made from a black coloured wool and features a metal buckle at the waist.
Inside the jacket the original label is still present and bears the title of 'Blouse (C.D. General and N.F.S) ARP 57A & N.F.S. 103' along with the size of 7 which is designed to fit a 38" - 40" chest. The maker's name of 'Leonard Klein ltd' is present as is the 1943 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.Below the label is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'N', denoting 1943 as the year of issue.
The overall condition of the jacket is very good with some signs of wear and age. There is evidence of where badges have been removed from the left breast pocket and on the whole, the jacket displays very well. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original wartime blouse in good condition!
