    About this item

A scarce original Timber Corps / Women's Land Army axeman's cape in unissued condition.

These capes were produced for the Women's Timber Corps but also saw issue with the Women's Land Army. It is made from a tan khaki coloured cotton canvas material and features a rounded collar which is faced with green coloured serge. There are leather belts which fasten the cape and can be adjusted to suit the wearer. There is a large hanging loop at the neck.

Inside the cape the War Department acceptance stamp is still present and is bright and legible. It is surmounted by the letter 'N' which denotes 1943 as the year of manufacture. There is also a large 'M' stamped which denotes the size.

The cape is in excellent condition and appears to be unworn and unissued. It displays very well with no flaws or issue that I can see. Please take time to study the pictures however and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very nice example of this rare pattern of cape.
