About this item
An original WW2 United States Army Third Pattern Herringbone Twill jacket in good condition.
Officially designated 'Jacket, HBT, OD7, Special', this pattern of jacket was introduced in mid 1943 and saw service throughout the rest of the war. It was however superseded by the fourth pattern HBT jacket in July 1944 meaning it was only manufactured for a short period.
The jacket is made from the standard green coloured herringbone twill material used for all US Army workwear during the Second World War. The jacket features large double-pleat action of vertical and horizontal pleats to the chest which are the trademark of the third pattern jacket. The gas flap has been removed from this interior and the donut buttons have been carefully removed from each cuff which help to make the jacket more wearable.
The jacket retains its original size tag which states the size as 38R although it will fit up o a 42" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat the jacket measures -
Chest - 23 1/2"
Inside arm - 21 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 3/4"
Length - 29"
The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. It is still an excellent deep green colour and does not show signs of undue washing or exposure to sunlight. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing however and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which has small flaws commensurate with age.
A good original WW2 fatigue jacket in a larger size.
