    About this item

Correctly named 23837225 L/Cpl TW Robson RAMC

    Awarded pre 1982.

Medal lot complete with original silk ribbon and transmittal box.

On the 1st April 1967 the Territorial Army and the Army Emergency Reserve were reorganized into the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve, to reflect this change the Efficiency Medal Territorial and Efficiency Medal (Army Emergency Reserve) were discontinued and replaced by the Efficiency Medal (T. & A.V.R.)  by Royal Warrant 2nd June 1969. This change also introduced a new ribbon with equal blue and green stripes and a yellow border stripe on each side, the blue from the EM(AER), green from the EM(T) and the yellow stripes from both. The first awards of the EM(TAVR) were announced in List No. 82,1969.

Members of the Army Emergency Reserve or the Territorial Army who were now serving in the Territorial Army and Volunteer Reserve (TAVR) and had earned their either an EM(T) or an EM(AER) who then completed another 6 years of service were awarded the clasp to the respective medal, if they then completed a further 6 years in the TAVR they then became eligible for the EM(TAVR) and the award of the last clasp awarded was cancelled in Army Orders and the EM(TAVR) medal was awarded.

This ability to earn two different EM's was not repeated when the Efficiency Medal Territorial (1982) was introduced, those who already held a EM(TAVR) and continued to serve were awarded additional clasps to their EM(TAVR).

It is also worth noting that after 1982 the naming style of these medals changed and all the full stops were dropped.
