A WW1 Period British Shell Case for the Mk111 6 Pounder Gun.
Primarily a naval gun, the 6Pdr. was used during WW1 in both the Mk1 and 1V tanks and also saw limited service in WW2, often as a second line naval coastal defence gun.
The Shell Case is in very good condition, approximately 307mm in length and has attracted the attention of an aspiring artist who has crudely scratched a floral pattern around the base, along with a rifle and bayonet on the man body.
Markings on the base show it was at one time cordite filled and repaired once. The Anchor reflects its naval background.
