About this item
Featuring 30" deeply curved single-edged blade with broad single fuller, etched, blued, and
gilt over half its length with foliage and stands of arms. Gilt brass stirrup hilt with single
langet decorated with eagle and shield in relief on the obverse and the iconic curved eagle
head pommel typical of many US Federal era officer’s swords; bone grip carved with
reeded diagonal and horizontal grooves and featuring brass ferrule at the base. Original
black leather scabbard with bras fittings, including throat frog stud and carry ring, middle
band with carry ring, and long smooth drag. Leather flaking and top mount loose due to
age shrinkage of the leather. Blade retains 95% original blue and gilding with spotting over
most of its surface. Overall length 34 3/4", not including scabbard.
