About this item
Featuring stout 4 ½" hand-forged head of square section with slightly curved armor-
piercing beak decorated with incised lines on sides and hammer face. Dovetailed faceted
4 3/4" belt hook. Rectangular-section wood grip with riveted steel straps completely
encasing the wood and punched hole for retaining strap; the grip with faceted edges.
Head secured to shaft with rectangular button on the end and rivet through the side.
Overall length 20 1/2". Totally hand forged, showing lamination, the metal cleaned with
medium pitting. Weighs 2 pounds 7 ounces (1112 g). A very effective weapon in an age
where the sword was largely ineffective against an armored opponent.
