A very good untouched WW1 French Model 1886 Lebel Bayonet with matching numbers to bayonet and scabbard.
Lebel Bayonets are notorious for being found mis-matched in their numbering, to come across one in its original set up such as we have here is exceptional. This is the first such piece I have owned.
The Bayonet is in very good condition overall: the smooth nickel handle, hooked quillon, and round chequered press stud at the hilt, all without damage.
The cruciform blade with needle point is in very good condition, bearing nice inspection markings at the ricasso. The black steel tubular scabbard with integral ball chape also undamaged.
Lebel Bayonets are not difficult to find, however finding one in its original numbered configuration is difficult.
