About this item
A Victorian General Officer's Waist belt Plate with a Rococo clasp. To the centre laurel leaves in a circle, the clasp having a reeded background - and on this, in silver, a lion over a Victorian Crown. Superb Condition. Price includes delivery within the UK. Additional charges apply for international shipping.
Design/Style: Features a Rococo clasp shape (referring to the ornate, curved style of the outer frame and the buckles).
Central Design (Obverse): The central circular plate is framed by laurel leaves in a circle.
The background within the circle has a reeeded/stippled/granulated texture (often referred to as 'reeded' or 'pebbled' background).
Superimposed on this background is a silver emblem featuring a Lion (standing guardant/passant) atop a Victorian Crown. The lion and crown are the primary royal insignia and would have been standard for a General Officer.
Buckle Attachments: The left and right attachments are ornate, perhaps with a foliate or feather-like design, consistent with the Rococo style.
Condition: Crisp detail and excellent metal finish.
The backplate shows the simple, oval/bar format typical of the reverse of a two-part waist belt clasp, designed to hold the leather belt in place.
This is a beautiful and collectible piece of British military history.
