    About this item

A scarce original Australian made Army Jumper dated 1942.

This jumper is based on the British pattern of jumper which was introduced prior to the Second World War and replaced the earlier button front style garment issued during the Great War. It is made from a khaki coloured wool which is machine knitted. It features a V-shaped opening to the neck and tight knitted cuffs and waistband.

Inside the jumper the original label is present which bears the Australian contract number of V.571 and the 1942 date.

The jumper will suit someone of a 34-36" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 17 1/2"
    Inside arm - 19 1/2"
    Outside arm - 20"
    Shoulders - 18 1/2"
    Length - 22 1/2"

The overall condition of the jumper is good and it displays well as can be seen in the pictures. It has signs of wear and use as well as some period repairs which are illustrated in the pictures. Overall it is a good example but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which has some small flaws commensurate with age.

All in all a very nice wartime jumper complete with its original label. Australian made items saw widespread issue in the Italian campaign so this could suit a collection focused on that theatre of war.
