    About this item

An original 1943 dated British Army Field Service Cap in good condition.

This pattern of cap came into issue with the British Army shortly before the beginning of the Second World War and saw use throughout the conflict. It was replaced by the General Service Cap in 1943 making this a later production example. The pattern did not change however and it is indistinguishable from an early war produced cap.

The original stamps are still present to the interior of the cap and are bright and legible. The maker's name of 'L. Silberston & Sons' is present as is the War Department broad arrow and the 1943 date. The size is also marked as 7. As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'N' which confirms the year of issue as 1943.

The cap is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are only limited signs of wear and there is evidence of where a cap badge has been fitted and has left a slight shadow. Overall the cap displays very well but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

Altogether a nice cap that would make a good addition to a collection or could suit a reenactor.
