Original 1944 Dated British Army 1937 Pattern Belt + RAC Pattern Holster

A rare original WW2 British Army Royal Armoured Corps MKII pistol holster and wartime economy webbing belt which is dated 1944. 

This pattern of holster saw extensive issue with tank crews and armoured crews in many campaigns during the Second World War and is now synonymous with the men who fought 'inside the metal'. The holster is made from the standard webbing material and is open top to allow for easy access. A single strap fastens over the top of the pistol and is secured with the standard type of press stud. Loops are fitted to the outside through which extra ammunition can be placed. The reverse shows signs of being shortened to allow it to be worn on the belt in a higher position. This is quite a common modification. 

A belt is also present and is a wartime economy example which is made from three parts and features webbing sliders in place of brass. The rear buckles have been removed which is not uncommon to find and means there are less things to catch on the inside of a tank or armoured car. As the belt was being worn with just a holster, the buckles would have been surplus to requirements. Inside the belt the original markings are still present and the 1944 date is still legible. It is more clear in person than shown in the pictures. The War Department broad arrow is also present. 

Both item are in good, used condition. There is notable wear and staining which is consistent across both items. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
