About this item
An original pair of 'S.D. Pantaloons, Motor Cyclists' dated 1942 and in good condition.
These breeches are the pattern made from a heavy serge whipcord which are different to the earlier issue examples which were made from a lighter whipcord. The feature green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons, typical of clothing made in 1944. A first field dressing pocket is fitted the front as are frog mouth pockets. Chamois suede patches are fitted to the inside of each leg and the calf fastens with plastic buttons.
The interior of the breeches features the War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'M' which denotes 1944 as the year of issue.
The original size label is no longer present but the breeches will fit around a 30" waist well and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 15"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise -
Inside leg - 25"
Outside leg - 37"
Cuff - 5"
Calf - 6 1/2"
The breeches are in good condition overall and they display reasonably well with no serious damage. There are some signs of wear and use as well as age but overall they are a good wearable pair of breeches. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn item which have small issues commensurate with age.
Altogether a good pair of breeches dating from the Second World War.
