    About this item

A rare original 1960 dated 1957 Pattern Jungle Green Shirt in good condition.

Officially designated 'Jacket Bush Green 1957 Pattern', this shirt is now very rare to find today as it was only produced in limited numbers for a short period. It differs from the much more common 1950 pattern jacket in that it has no lower pockets which suggests it was intended to be worn tucked in. The cuff is also different and much more complicated to make, featuring a covered box section with opening which houses the shank of the button and brass split ring. Like other contemporary JG items it is made from a green dyed cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'aertex' which was a popular fabric with the military as well as for sports during the mid Century period due to its lightweight, breathale nature. The shirt features breast pockets as well as epaulettes and all the buttons are butterscotch coloured revolving shank buttons.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and is bright and legible. This size is stated as 1 and the makers name of 'M. S. Stanton & Co'. Below this is the 1960 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.

The shirt is a small size and when laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 18 1/2"
    Inside arm - 14 3/4"
    Outside arm - 19 1/2"
    Shoulders - 16 1/2"
    Length - 25 1/2"

The shirt is in very good condition and looks to be unworn. There are no signs of previous wear or use and overall it displays very well. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A rare piece of post-war British jungle green clothing in excellent condition.
