About this item
An original pair of 1954 dated British Army 1949 Pattern Battledress trousers in used condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced after the end of the Second World War and stayed in issue until the 1960s. Due to their long service life it is now ubiquitous with the British Army in the Cold War period. Like its WW2 counterpart, the trousers are made from khaki coloured wool serge and feature green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons throughout. Waist adjusters are located to each hip and there is a single map pocket to the outside of the left leg. Two more pockets are located to the seat of the trousers.
Inside the trousers the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Battledress Trousers, 1949 Pattern' below which is the size of 13. The maker's name of 'B. Bloom Ltd' is also present as is the 1954 date and the War Department broad arrow.
The trousers will suit around a 31" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -
Waist - 15 1/2"
Inside leg - 33"
The trousers are in used condition overall and are still wearable. There is staining and some period repairs as illustrated in the pictures. Please study these and bear in mind that these are a vintage, worn pair of trousers which have small issues commensurate with age.
An original pair of battledress trousers from the Post WW2 period.
