    About this item

For sale is a WW2 REME & RAOC 8th Army Troops Workshop Review Dated October 1943. This is the first issue of the series.

The editorial states: “They say the Army can do anything to you except Make you have a baby. Well we in this Unit have had a baby, the " Review „. Conceived in the Desert, and born in slightly pleasanter surroundings, it is a lusty little fellow, full of life and promise of greater things You, members of this Unit are its mothers, and should be proud of it. Thanks are due to Major Volum who permitted and helped the birth, and was God-father at the Christening; to It. Johnston of B. M. A. Press, Tri-poli, who supplied the Clothes, (paper); to L/Cpl Lindsay for giving it artistic beauty; to Dvr. Stringer for giving the baby a name, and to Cpl. Thomas who was an energetic midwife. And now it is yours. It needs food to live, - ideas and enthusiasm are its milk. You, its mothers must give it both. If you do, your milk will improve and you yourselves will benefit, and the baby will thrive and grow. We shall then take it Home with us, a seasoned warrior, strong. clean and healthy, - worthy of the great Army we have served so long.”   This is in good condition, but the front and back page is a little tatty. These are very hard to find with very little of these coming up for sale.    This will be sent via Royal Mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
