About this item
For sale is a WW2 1946 First Edition Coston Gun By Martyn Sherwood Royal Navy Interest.
The preface states;
“On Naval Form S474 will be found details of a Line-thrower Shoulder Coston Mark I. A coston gun is used for "shooting a line" over from one ship to another, by means of which anything can be transferred convoy orders and the like.
I shoot my line. I hope it gets across, because I am giving my royalties on this book to the Association of Retired Naval Officers and the King George's Fund for Sailors. And the latter looks after Merchant Service sailors too.
It has been written while I camped in a disused Kentish sandpit, in planes and trains and sampans, and even in a "duck" to wit, a vehicle on the road from Butterworth to Rangoon. How Mr. Lim Fook Heng ever typed it all from those rough notes I do not know. I thank him, and also my patient publisher.”
This is in good condition.
This will be sent via Royal Mail tracked 24 and dispatched within two working days.
