The foreword once translated into English states; “THE AVIATORS are a fighting force of youth. Fresh nerves, a fresh spirit of commitment, the will to act, physical toughness are all essential, as is complete mastery of flight and weapons.   Their service is difficult and exhausting, but it is driven forward by the awareness that their fight and victory are the basis for success, even for land- and sea-based weapons. They fight to clear the airspace so that the efforts of their comrades can lead to victory without interference.   Loyal comradeship thus becomes an act of life-saving for others. Wherever the pilot sees an enemy with his eagle eyes, he pounces on him like an eagle on its prey. Fight to the end!   Free in the airspace, on his own, but in close association with his chain and squadron, he has to stand up for himself. The "I" takes a back seat; it is only "we"! Selflessness testifies to the strength and decency of character.   The pilot's fight takes place in the open air in front of everyone's eyes. To fight through it with honor is exemplary and carries you along in difficult hours of doubt.   That is why the pilot enjoys special respect. His fight is serious, but joyful in the use of youth forces. Cheerfulness in a familiar circle of comrades replaces the seriousness of the day and creates relaxation for new missions.   Connected to life and death, cemented by the loyalty of the fighting spirit: this is how our pilots lived, fought and died. Their way of life should be an eternal example for the youth.”   This will be sent via Royal Mail 1st class signed for and dispatched within two working days.
