About this item

WW2 RAF FLYING LOGBOOK - SGT. W.B. WOLFE - W/OP - 622 SQUADRON. A nice late war logbook to a Sergeant W.B. Wolfe who served as a wireless operator. Flying with RAF 622 squadron from RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk. They served right at the end of the war, but did partake in 9 Operational flights.

Wolfe started training at No.2 radio school on 25/4/44, moving onto No.16 O.T.U on 21/9/44, to 1654 H.C.U on 4/1/45 and then finally to 622 squadron on 8/3/45. They flew in Avro Lancasters on the following Operational flights:

10/3/45 - Gelsenkirchen

14/3/45 - Datteln

20/3/45 - Hamm

21/3/45 - Munster

9/4/45 - Kiel

14/4/45 - Berlin

18/4/45 - Heligoland

22/4/45 - Bremin

With several subsequent flights over Holland during Operation Manna, dropping food supplies over the Hague and Rotterdam. Also flying on several "Cooks Tours". Wolfe stayed in the RAF post-war, moving out to Iraq in 1946, flying with 216 squadron, on transport planes, where the final entries are made.

Overall, a nice logbook to a very brave young airman. Worthy of further research and a proper display. Ideal for any RAF collection, museum, or display.
